The Schools seek to admit those candidates who are best qualified to meet the academic requirements of each of the Schools’ programs, and who, by reason of academic potential and purpose, show promise of successful completion of the program.

The Nursing program offers four tracks, all leading to eligibility for registered nurse licensure, the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nursing, and prepares the student for entry-level nursing positions in hospitals or comparable facilities. The four tracks are:

Generic Track

  • For recent High School Graduates, Holders of GED or Transfer Students,
  • While the School of Nursing strongly recommends completion of two Biology (Anatomy and Physiology I and II or Microbiology) requirements prior to applying, it is no longer required.
  • The Generic Track leads to a Diploma in Nursing from the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools and an Associate in Science (AS) degree from Union County College,
  • Five semesters of Nursing Courses (two and one-half years),
  • 75 course credits,
  • Day or Evening/Full or Part-time.

2.5 cumulative GPA or higher – A&P I & II or Microbiology**

ATI TEAS Score 58% or higher in Reading & Math
**High School Seniors are required to have completed Algebra, Biology and Chemistry

LPN to RN Transition Track

  • Requires a current LPN license,
  • Requires two Bio’s, Anatomy and Physiology I and II or Microbiology prior to applying,
  • The LPN to RN Track Leads to a Diploma in Nursing from the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools and an Associate in Science (AS) degree from Union County College,
  • Four week – Full-time Transition course plus two semesters of Nursing Courses (one year),
  • 75 course credits,
  • Advanced standing entry into the Generic Track at Nursing III.

Accelerated Track

  • Requires a prior Baccalaureate, or higher, Degree,
  • Requires all general educations courses completed prior to applying,
  • The Accelerated Track leads to a Diploma in Nursing from the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools and an Associate in Science (AS) degree from Union County College,
  • Three semesters of Nursing Courses (one year),
  • 75 course credit,
  • Day/Full-time only.

Pathways to BSN Track

  • A collaborative curriculum between Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools, Union County College and Kean University,
  • While the School of Nursing strongly recommends completion of two Biology (Anatomy and Physiology I and II or Microbiology) requirements prior to applying, it is no longer required.
  • Enables the student to complete a BSN in 3 additional semesters after receiving the Diploma in Nursing from the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder School of Nursing, and an AS Degree from Union County College, passing the NCLEX Licensing Exam, and thereby earning an RN License,
  • Kean University courses are day or evening; Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Nursing courses and Union County College courses may be taken day or evening,
  • Student is enrolled in all 3 schools,
  • Intention for BSN Track must be declared upon application to the School of Nursing.
